How do you make decisions at Stanford? Do you juggle wanting future stability, parents' expectations and needs, and your own interests?
Do you feel guilty following your dreams? How do you separate your identity from what your parents expect you to do and be? Does decision-making feel like choosing between your interests and wanting a stable future to support yourself and your parents?
At Stanford, we face a lot of new choices. Who do I spend time with? What clubs do I join? What major/internship/career do I choose? Making independent decisions comes with a lot of pressure. Some pressure might be our parents. We may feel an obligation to them because they raised us and are supporting us financially. Other pressures might be future social and financial security for yourself and your family. Come join us on Wednesday, February 17, 2016 from 5:30-6:30PM in the A3C Couchroom in the Old Union Clubhouse, 2nd Floor for a discussion on making choices that exercise our independence as college-aged adults while balancing parental and familial needs.
