Longtime Assistant Dean and Associate Director, Dr. Jerald L. Adamos, departs the Asian American Activities Center after 13 years.

With a mix of sadness and gratitude, we announce the departure of Dr. Jerald L. Adamos, our esteemed Assistant Dean & Associate Director at the Asian American Activities Center, who leaves his role in early January 2025.  After nearly 14 years at Stanford, thirteen of which at the Asian American Activities Center (A3C), Jerald will be transitioning to a new role with Semester at Sea, a unique study abroad and experiential learning program that takes students on a multi-country journey aboard a ship (fondly billed as a “floating university”).  He will support student global learning and serve as the primary advisor to underserved populations on the ship and in the countries visited, allowing him to combine his deep passions for travel, education, and student development.

Jerald started his Stanford career in 2011 with Residential Education as Program Associate for the Row and Fraternity & Sorority Life Advisor.  There, he supported Muwekma-Tah-Ruk and other independent row houses in designing residential student engagement opportunities.  He also served as the inaugural advisor to the Multicultural Greek Council, mentoring and developing the leadership of culturally-based campus Greek organizations.  In 2012, Jerald transitioned to the Asian American Activities Center where he has been a steady and visionary force for the Asian American community for over a decade.  During his leadership as Associate Director, Jerald has deeply impacted the lives of countless students, colleagues, and our broader university community.  He has been unwavering in his commitment to centering student needs and serving as an advocate for our Asian American community.  The A3C is forever indebted and grateful for all that Jerald has built and the legacy he leaves that will continue to have ripple effects for years to come.

While we are sad about Jerald’s departure, we are also thrilled and proud that he will be embarking on a new chapter of personal and professional growth.  Please join us in extending our heartfelt appreciation and best wishes to Jerald as he begins this new journey.  He will be greatly missed, but we are excited to see all the incredible things he will accomplish in the future!
