Why you joined the A³C: I joined the A3C because of my passion and commitment to the Asian American Community on campus and beyond. Coming in, I had a huge interest in learning more about our communities and what role we play in the present day in relation to the deep nuanced historical context that makes up Asian America. I have also been fortunate to have been able to use the resources I learned about from the center to build community within Lao & Laotian students on campus through Latana and a few of our student staff throughout my first year.

One thing you love about Stanford: As a walker, I appreciate the beautiful natural campus landscape. I think something very valuable about walking is getting the opportunity to take in the beauty of campus at your own pace. My morning runs are always accompanied by the gorgeous landscapes of (especially) west campus, and my daily walks to class are greeted by greenery that I never get to see back in San Diego.

One class/program to participate in before leaving Stanford: Asian American Racialization in Education taught by Dr. Eujin Park. This was the most formative class I have ever taken thus far and has driven me to think even further about our communities within an Educational context. All this thinking has also led to my own formation of questions that drive my daily passion to learn. Also… any AND I MEAN any Asian American Studies course, you will not regret it.

Advice to Frosh/anyone on campus: There are so many different opportunities to get involved with on campus, it is definitely extremely exciting and at times overwhelming. Please remember to prioritize self-care, and don’t try to juggle everything all at once. Remember, there is always time to do the things you love, you don’t have to do it all at once.
