Major: Asian American Studies

Hometown: Fresno, CA

Why you joined the A³C: I joined the A3C to build community and be in community with other Asian students, and to learn more about the history of Asian students at Stanford--what that experience is like, what are some opportunities I can seek out, what can I learn from alum and professional staff, amongst other reasons.

One thing you love about Stanford: Community. While I definitely get into my solitary, "I'm-the-only-one-who-matters" mindset, I break out of it by reminding myself of all the people and communities that hold me and are with me here. I know I have people who care about me here, whether those are friends, faculty, supervisors, family.

One class/program to participate in before leaving Stanford: TAKE AN ASIAN AMERICAN STUDIES COURSE OR ANY CSRE COURSE. Alongside Asian Am Classes, take classes from our sister programs (AAAS, Chicana/o-Latina/o Studies Program, Jewish Studies, Native American Studies).

Advice to Frosh/anyone on campus: This is going to sound contradictory... but have fun. Have fun, but also do not let the reason why you are here, escape from you. Keep it in the back of your mind and remind yourself of it, call it back to you, but also don't forget to -put in the actions- that will get you to where you want to land.
