Letter from AASib Coordinators
Dear Class of 2029,
Welcome to Stanford! We are your Asian American Sib Program (AASib) Coordinators at the Asian American Activities Center (A³C), and we are so excited to meet you in the fall!
Starting college can be both exciting and overwhelming, and AASib is here to help you navigate your new life at Stanford. The AASib program, provided through the A³C, is a peer social and mentoring program where upperclass students serve as your “Big Sib” mentors throughout the school year. Lil Sibs (you!) will be matched with a group of Big Sibs based on your common interests—academic, extracurricular, athletic, artistic, cultural, and more. As part of your SibFam, you’ll build relationships, share experiences, and connect with Stanford’s rich and diverse Asian American community.
This year's AASib Coordinators are Raihan Ahmed and Sophia Mitsuoka.
Raihan: Hello! My name is Raihan Ahmed (he/him). I am a first-generation Bangladeshi American and a rising sophomore from Revere, Massachusetts. I’m thinking of majoring in Economics or CS (still deciding). I love to explore new places and hang out with friends around campus in my free time! Excited to have all of you on campus, wooooo!!
Sophia: Hi everyone! My name is Sophia Mitsuoka (she/her), and I’m a rising sophomore from Centennial, Colorado! I’m a second generation Korean American and fourth generation Japanese American, with interests in Design and storytelling. I love hiking, watching sunsets, and wandering markets with friends! I’m super excited for you all to join the Stanford family!
In your SibFam, your Big Sibs and fellow Lil Sibs will be there to support you as you adjust to college life. From SibFam outings to quarterly events where over 200 Big Sibs and Lil Sibs come together, the program is designed to offer guidance, friendship, and community.
Stanford has many organizations and programs to explore, and AASib is one way to get a glimpse into the vibrant communities and people on campus, including the A³C. The A³C is a resource center for all students interested in Asian and Asian American issues and experiences. It offers academic, career, and mental health programming; leadership development workshops; cultural events; and a welcoming space where students can be in community, study, or even take a nap!
Big Sibs are ready to guide YOU through Stanford—all you need to do is sign up! Fill out the application as thoroughly as possible, so we can match you with Big Sibs who are the best fit for you. To secure your spot in a SibFam and participate in AASib, please register by our priority deadline: 11:59 PM PT on Friday, September 19th, 2025. We will continue collecting responses until our final deadline: 11:59 PM PT on Friday, September 26th, 2025 or until all spot in the proram are filled.
