What Is a Big Sib?

A Big Sib is an upperclass Stanford student who serves as a peer mentor to frosh students to help ensure a successful first year.  Big Sibs share their knowledge of resources on campus that helped in their own frosh transition as well as their knowledge of the community and how to become involved.

Responsibilities of a Big Sib

  • All participating Big Sibs from your SibFam must complete the Big Sib Training by Sunday, September 25, 2022.

  • Attend and participate in the AASib Revealing Event at the end of Week 1, Friday, September 30, 2022 from 5-6PM PST

  • Plan to check in with Lil Sibs at least once a quarter and report out any challenges or issues to the AASib Core Leaders.

  • Get to know your SibFam members.

  • Connect SibFam members with resources.

  • Introduce SibFam members to other members of the community.

  • Support SibFam members in academic and co-curricular activities.

  • Participate in AASib events.

Priority decision for Big Sibs will be Monday, September 5, 2022. Applications to be a Big Sib are available until Sunday, September 25, 2022. Apply with other co-Bigs or as an individual looking to create a family! If you and your SibFam choose to apply, please note the program changes and keep in mind the time commitment and dedication we ask of you. All participating Big Sibs from your SibFam must complete the Big Sib Training by Sunday, September 25, 2022 to participate in the SibFam Reveal during AANSOC. Please answer the questions on the form with as much detail as possible and we will do our best to match the members of your SibFam with Lil Sibs!
