Education Pipeline Programs

In understanding the diversity among the Asian/Asian American population, A3C supports several student-initiated and student-run programs that aim to serving underrepresented and underserved Asian/Asian American youth. These programs provide students an opportunity to engage and experience college life along with additional support on the college admissions process.

Youth Outreach Programs:

Stanford Hmong Student Union (HSU)
Stanford Hmong Outreach Program Promoting Education (SHOPPE)

The Stanford Hmong Outreach Program Promoting Education (SHOPPE) is an academically enriching program that provides high school students the opportunity to experience and preview college life. The program is open to all Hmong high school students who aspire to attend college. Accepted applicants will experience three days of educational workshops on topics such as financial aid, the college admissions process, and the personal statement. There will also be social activities such as a Stanford campus tour, an opportunity to shadow popular college courses, and more! We hope that students who participate in our program gain the knowledge and tools to prepare for and apply to college.

Stanford Vietnamese Student Association (SVSA)
Fall College Application Workshop (FCAW):

The Fall College Application Workshop (FCAW) is a FREE annual event organized by the Stanford Vietnamese Student Association to assist high school upperclassmen with the college application process. It aims to provide high school seniors with the opportunity to attend a series of workshops, where they can learn more about college application resources, how to determine whether a college may be the "right fit," as well as how to optimize different segments of their college application responses. Students also have the opportunity to be matched with a Stanford student, who will serve as a mentor to help the student with his or her college applications, personal concerns, and the transition from high school to college.

Note: These workshops are for students applying to any college, not just Stanford in particular. In addition, FCAW is open to students of ANY background! All students are encouraged to apply

Future Vietnamese Leaders' College Readiness Workshop (VietLeaders):

Future Vietnamese Leaders’ College Readiness Workshop (VietLeaders) is a free, annual two-day, one-night event organized by the Stanford Vietnamese Student Association to provide high school sophomores and juniors with the opportunity to explore college, identity, and leadership. Students will attend a series of workshops and activities, as well as a chance to meet college students who can offer insights from their own personal experiences in college.

Pilipino American Student Association (PASU)
Pilipinx Youth Leadership Conference (PYLC):

PYLC is an all-day youth leadership conference held at Stanford in February/March of Winter Quarter that caters to high school and college students around the Bay Area. Students attend workshops, listen to keynote speakers, and participate in group discussions to explore Filipino-American identity and learn about Filipino history and issues.

Stanford Khmer Association (SKA)
Cambodian Rising Education Weekend (CREW):

CREW (Cambodian Rising Education Weekend) is a free higher education outreach program created to empower Khmer high school students and the transitional age community (14-22 years old) to seek college and university level education.
During this experience, participants will learn about college life, explore Cambodian and Cambodian-American culture, reflect on their identities, gain access to tools and resources for applying to college, and become part of a lasting network of learners.

Stanford Tibetan Student Union (TSU)
Stanford Tibetan Outreach Reading Youth (STORY):

The Stanford Tibetan Outreach Reading Youth Program is an opportunity for High School students to learn about the college application process, crucial information regarding standardized testing and the differences between various form of higher education (private school, public school. for-profit school, etc). The outreach program is open to all Tibetan high school students living in Northern California. Accepted participants experience a full day at Stanford University where they'll hear various presentations from current TSU members about applying to college, get to have their personal statements edited by TSU members, and get to tour Stanford. The goal of this outreach program is to get Tibetan high school students excited to apply to college and provide a strong foundation of knowledge for when they explore which colleges they want to apply to.
